Washington, DC, November 29, 2017– The Community Mortgage Lenders of America (CMLA) and the Community Home Lenders Association (CHLA) sent a joint letter to Senate leadership today urging an amendment to address the issue created for small lenders by a provision in the tax reform bill (Section 13221) that would significantly multiply a lender’s tax liability for mortgage servicing rights, in excess of income actually received.
